A Brother Lost - Memento Mori

remember that you will die...

is organizing a showing themed around Memento Mori, and this is my contribution.

We found this skull in our woods in the spring; the air was still crisp enough to hold the foggy bite of one's breath. What stories could it tell?
I painted it in the same location as it was found originally. The living deer is my own addition, and I hope to leave the meaning open to the viewer's interpretation.
