A birthday gift commissioned for
This is an ammonite fossil that I have hand wrapped in solid sterling silver. This ammonite has the most lovely rainbow sheen dancing across the entire surface, a very pretty gemstone fossil. I make all my jewelry by hand with sterling silver wire with no soldering or casting. Mother nature makes the beautiful stones I use! Ammonites are a (now extinct) creature that lived millions of years ago. They were categorized as Cephalopods and their closest living relative is thought to be modern squids, cuttlefish, and octopus. The lived through the age of the dinosaurs, and went extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period. Some ammonites have been found as large as 6' in diameter, but this one was slightly under 2". [[ Though this piece is not for sale as it was a gift, I do sell my jewelry here for those that ask.]] |
