An Ancient Pursuit by Nambroth An Ancient Pursuit by Nambroth
A cycle that repeats itself endlessly through millions of years; that is, the relationship of predator and prey.

A pair of Deinonychus are intensely focused on the possible meal of a gobiconodon. Has it been alerted by their presence? The hunt never has never been predictable nor a sure thing...

This was a personal commission for Emily, :iconewilloughby:, and took me over a year of working on it off and on! I thank her for her patience with me. :)

16" x 20", acrylic on board. My scanner was not kind to this. :( It's 6 scans stitched together. The colors are a little off.

Disclaimer: While I did my best to hold accurate to current paleontological findings, I myself am not a paleontologist and as much as I'd love to, haven't had enough time to invest in deep reading on all the subject matter painted here. Further, some aspects of this piece were determined by my awesome client and as such this piece will not be altered.

Very accurate and impressive despite being stitched together. The colors to me aren't too off, and it adds a little character in the piece as a whole. Great job. XD

I love it, and as I like to think I am quite up to date on the palaeontology front I am going to say that this is quite a very good representation of what we think a Deinonychus would look like.

I really love how your worked your ability to illustrate birds and dragons into these little rapers. The fur/feather detailing, markings, and especialy the head shape and you you blended the feathers into the skin of the snout. :)

This piece is truly fantastic. I can't believe all of the tiny little details in this picture! The Deinonychi look amazing in both anatomy and motion, and the environment has such a neat air to it.. This is honestly my favorite work that you have up here. Absolutely fantastic.

I love the ancient ties to like modern ties f birds as far as evolution is concerned. I find this reminds me of the Utah raptor types in my mind. I find dinosaurs with feathers an interesting mix whether or not exist now a days. I also like how you tried your best to make the plant and flora meant to be like in that time, so well done. :) :thumbsup:

I love the fact that dinosaurs are still sparking creativity in people after the boom archeological finds petered out. With the social phenomenon of Jurrasic Park no longer at the center of attention, this display is pleasing; and with the incorporation of current theorizing. Man. I'm just staggered.

I can't believe you have possibly gotten enough shit that you even have to put a accuracy disclaimer in your dino pictures. WHATEVER WHATEVER YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU WANT. Especially when it's as beautiful as this. Don't care if it has feathers or looks like jurassic park raptor, it looks great

in that case it makes sense, but I feel like anytime I see a picture with dinosaurs people always have a disclaimer about the accuracy of said dino. I saw someone a long time ago get bullied into closing comments due to the fact she drew a trex with three fingers (I don't know if it was nambroth or if it was someone else @_@ ) so anytime I see it it's like, why have people made this necessary to say ;A;
