Artist's Comments
This is kinda simple, I know. This piece was painted for Painter Magazine as part of an instructional tutorial I wrote for them. I was asked to write a 5 page tutorial on how to paint a scene like this in low lighting. It will be in one of their upcoming issues (I'll update here when I find out which one) so be sure to check it out!
The scene is intentionally like the one in December Sunrise. I was asked to recreate the same setting/clouds/sunrise conditions and illustrate how to paint it. Out of respect for the person that commissioned December Sunrise I changed the background enough that it isn't identical. Perhaps later when I have more time I'll go back and play with this one a bit more. It was done over 60 hours and many sleepless nights in a 5 day deadline, so it's not the best of my work, but hey I got it done!
