Glowing CrystalHeart Moonstone by Nambroth Glowing CrystalHeart Moonstone by Nambroth
This is a moonstone carefully hand wrapped in Argentium sterling silver.

Moonstone is an amazing stone that can appear milky or white at first, until you move it and the stone comes alive with colors flashing within. The effect is similar in appearance to opal fire. It is a natural stone, and the effect is caused by refractive layers within the stone. It cannot be simulated or dyed to look that way.

FAQ stuff, please read before asking:

- Yes! I do sell these! They are for sale on my personal site: [link]

-I hand wrap these pieces with nothing more than my fingers and some bitty pliers.
-I purchase the stones already cut and polished from rock and gem shows.
-My silver is purchased directly from a precious metals silver refinery.
-I use several different gauge and shaped wires in each piece.
-My methods are unplanned and haphazard and I do not plan on creating tutorials on how to make these. If you want to learn wire-wrapping there are already some good tutorials out there if you search on Google.</B>

Thanks for looking. :)

Beautiful pendant, moonstone is one of my favorites and haphazard can be the best way to go in some cases.

This is gorgeous! You did an amazing job at designing and placing the wires that way! You must have very steady hands to do this! It looks like it was made from a perfessional! Very beautiful! Keep up the great work, your work is beautiful!

looks like labradorite for me, I might be wrong but I am 9.9% convinced that's labradorite

It is moonstone. Labradorite is very similar, though, so much so that its molecular structure is only one atom count different.

Is there a hole for the wire that goes through the stone? I can't tell if there needs to be a hole with wiring. Either way this pendant looks amazing!

The way you wrap the silver around the pendant somehow manages to enhance the metalwork and moonstone as separate entities, yet both elements of the piece ultimately compliment each other. Truly stunning.

This one is my favourite, though I favourite all of your pendants. If I may ask, what do you ask for one of these? I would love an opal in one of your settings.

I have the prices on my store: [link] :) Finding opal large enough to work with is really hard, given my budget. I have one small opal up right now though.

Thanks for the reply! I have read somewhere that opal is not really fit for use in jewellery as it is a bit brittle an breaks easily, is this true in your experience?

:iconnambroth:
Nambroth Featured By Owner Dec 3, 2010  Professional General Artist
That is a bit misleading! Some opal is definitely easy to break or crack, but there are many types of opal and they form in different ways. Some opal is very stable and would not crack in any normal situation. This is especially true for some opal that is found in its native matrix stone.

Thanks for clearing that up for me! I would love to own an opal jewellery piece someday and have seen what a stone costs!

Could you maybe tell me what they call the ice bluish one with the reddish/orange "fire" heart - hope my explanation makes sense...

I have seen one of those in real life but never found out the name.

Hmm, I am not sure. It is not ammolite or opal?

As far as I know it was opal. Maybe I should go research the different kinds of opal. Let you know the descriptive name when I stumble upon it.

Thanks again!
