Artist's Comments

A commission for Banshea two painted feathers; I wanted to represent, per commissioner's request; "The eagle is a bird that gets associated with
the sun, life, light, and masculinity, while the raven is associated with the moon, death, darkness, and femininity."

Painted with acrylics on two wild turkey secondary feathers. The golden eagle has a golden shimmer and the raven has an irredescent blue shimmer that look very pretty in person, but the scanner didn't pick it up. There are two cubic zirconias hand set in the feather sheaths.

For those interested, in the coming months I will probably start selling my feather paintings again; I've done this for years now but was unable to do it again until recently.

Beautiful. You really caught the Raven's... essence. Anyone would be glad to have these.

Wonderful. I always loved your feather paintings. Oh, and I think your scanner did pick up some of the golden sheen of the golden eagle feather, on the left edge.

Absolutey marvelous work. I think the little orb-dots below the portraits are a nice touch, as are the cubit zirconias. I also think it's particularly clever of you to outline each portrait in a very pale color-- definitely brings the attention to them, and helps distinguish the painting from the naturally busy background of the feathers.

Did you add the gold and silver sheens to the feathers yourself? And do you paint feathers with just regular brushes, or do you use special tools?

Beautiful as always! :D

Only the eagle was painted with the special gold paint; that golden brown you see on the edge is actually naturally part of the feather's coloration! :}

Gold and silver sheens? I'm afraid I don't understand. ^^;
I just use normal brushes, that I would use for painting on paper.

These are beautiful! I love the amount of detail you've captured on both birds. ^_^

Whoops, sorry. I was referring to the golden and iridescent blue shimmers you referenced in your description. Should have double-checked before typing 'silver' and 'sheen'. ^^;
