Well, his beak needs a trim- it's a bit too long, but it's a mistake I didn't realize before I sealed the painting with a spray so he gets to stay that way. ^^;
This is the portrait of a greenwing macaw, on a 8.5" molted greenwing macaw feather.
Acrylics, feather shaft is hand set with a peridot and a sapphire. This feather is much more beautiful in person, as the vividness changes depending on the viewing angle. :}

I saw an ad for your feather paintings in a bird magazine! I think it's an awesome idea and the paintings are amazing! I wish I had a bird big enough for a painting, I have a week and half old sparrow that I'm raising and plan to release her in May.

This is gorgeous. The stones in the shaft just make the whole thing. I love the placement of the painting and I can just imagine how it changes as you turn the feather and how the iridescent must add to it.
