This is a commissioned piece; a gentleman sent me some of his parrots feathers to paint a portrait on.

So here is Niles, the Yellow Fronted Amazon, painted on one of his own naturally molted feathers!

Acrylic paint on a 6" long x 1" wide amazon feather. Shown much larger than actual size.

That's particularly beautiful. The color variance in the feather makes a perfect background with the lighter part of the feather mirroring the color in the painted bird itself. The brilliant yellow colors look like sunlight through the feathers!

Simply beautiful. I have never seen anything more magnificent than this. The colors are absolutely stunning.It all flows very well, especially on the feather. =)
