Peacock Gryphon by Nambroth Peacock Gryphon by Nambroth
A commission for :icondarknatasha:, as she requested a gryphon flying with birds, and gave me the option to make it peacock-based!

The birds are Imperial Pied Pigeons, native to India (as are wild Indian peafowl).

Peafowl can fly-- even with their trains fully grown-- but they are not necessarily agile and graceful like the pigeons are. I imagine that PeaGryph here is a bit exasperated with his companions...

Ink and Watercolor, 8" x 13"

This has a lot of iridescent pigments and as such didn't scan terribly well.

This is amazingly beautiful! It's incredibly detailed and yet such a bold, captivating piece. I love how the background is done, as well, and the feathers and colors are just stunning.

*jawdrop* I love it! A PeaGryph is an amazing idea! I love the way you can see the aerodynamics of the train as they're flying, and the colours you used are so rich and beautiful. I really like the background, and the overall effect the watercolour has. Well done!

It's supposed to be feline, I believe that rabbits don't have paw pads at all.

beautiful, just beautiful
but why does it seems that the flying of the peacock gryphon seems to be a bit off?? like it's having a bit of hard time to..keep up or something?>

Because peacocks are not very good at flying!

oh yes lol, they are pretty fun to watch though
and yes, not very good with flying, but gliding. But they attract too much attention when they fly by you and make those funny "laughing" call while they flap their wings each time.

They are not very adept at flight-- they are much better at gliding down from a height! :)
I intentionally made this guy look a bit awkward.
