The Philippine Eagle (also known as the monkey-eating eagle) is one of the rarest and most endangered on earth; estimates put their wild populaion at less than 500 individuals (at the time of posting this). They are massive eagles, with a wingspan of over eight feet, and are second in weight only to Harpy Eagles. Philippine Eagle pairs only lay one egg every two years; this combined with poaching, pollution (pesticides) , and habitat loss leaves the future for these birds pretty uncertain.
that is absolutely astounding! gorgeous job, oh i just love those eyes.... say.. would you have any good references or examples of wings on a bird or [horse in my case] where the view is from the front but the wings are folded? i'm having a heck of a time getting the view right on a centauress of mine. or heck even a good link to some decent references would be awesome... in the meantime.. i fav dis!
I love the detail to the eye on this, but the entire piece is very stunning. After following your link I found myself looking into more information about adopting/sponsering one. Ah, I'm such a sucker for good causes when it comes to birds. lol

Lovely! My only crit would be to make the diamond-leaves a bit bigger? I fear they'd be overpowered by the bird's figure when this is shrunk down and printed. <3
Woah, Very nice, Nambroth. This piece looks like it belongs in a high class autobon raptor guide. I just wish more people cared about these large feathered creatures.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
