Rainbow Aurora Moonstone by Nambroth Rainbow Aurora Moonstone by Nambroth
A really pretty marquis cut moonstone carefully hand wrapped in Argentium sterling silver.

Moonstone is an amazing stone, when you move it the stone comes alive with colors flashing within. The effect is similar in appearance to opal fire. It is called chatoyancy, which is a fancy way of saying that the color 'flashes' or 'rolls' across the stone, like cat's-eye but far more vibrantly. It is a natural stone, and the effect is caused by refractive layers within the stone. It cannot be simulated or dyed to look that way!

I hand wrap these pieces with nothing more than my fingers and a tiny pair of pliers. I purchase the stones already polished from rock and gem shows.

Thanks for looking. :)

[[ Since many ask-- yes, I do sell these on my personal site: [link] ]]

I'm crazy about all your jewelry, and I really love moonstones and labradorites. I visited Nepal and recently visited with some Tibetan monks who sold traditional jewelry and your art looks so much like their traditional silver-work. Check it out it's uncanny! Very very beautiful :)

Lovely as always. I'd like to see you encase the stones in a different manner then you normally do though. Just to add spice to your portfolio.

How much are the stones? Do stores like Michael's sell those or some imitation? And how long do these take you on average?

So pretty! I want ALL of these, but I probably couldn't pay for it yet...

Where's the price on your personal site? I must be looking in the wrong places.

Oh, no I've never found these types of stones in craft shops. I'm not saying that they don't exist, but if they sell them at all I imagine it'd be as a bead.
I buy them at Rock and Gem shows, and the cost varies as they are priced per carat (most gemstones are).
If you go to the Jewelry for Sale page (linked in the description) then click on any of the thumbnails, the price is at the bottom of each page. :)
