Another feather painting; this time on a smaller turkey feather. Painted in acrylics; the colors are much nicer in person than the scanner picked up. Also the quill has been hand-set with two cubic zirconias, treated to look like peridot and tanzanite. This one's for sale!

Where do you get your feathers? I can only get dyed ones at the craft store or find pigions ones (or duck occassionally by the river) occassionally. This is beautiful...

Actually, I hunt. That's why I started painting feathers; I don't want to waste anything. But you can find all sorts of feathers on sale online, sometimes I purchase them through ebay. Just bear in mind that there are a lot of feathers that are illegal to own. :}

Hm maybe I can get them from my friend who hunts (never thought of that), I can't hunt yet I an only a resident so it is really expensive for the liscense ~_~. Thanks!
