Just for fun!
Muntjac deer, for those going 'what the heck is that deer with fangs' are really cool little deer. Also known as Barking Deer, these guys are tiny, only about three feet tall. The bucks only grow small antlers as they tend to spar not with antlers but with their tusks. BRUTAL. They are also omnivores... yes, these deer do eat some meat! They use their fang/tusks to bite, but typically hunt small animals via strong blows from their legs.

Muntjac are the oldest known deer, appearing 15-35 million years ago.

Ink and watercolors on 5" x 5" watercolor board. Various photo references used to try for species accuracy.

This fellow will be traveling to the FC 09 art show with me.

Awwwwwww! I love this deer. Such a unique critter. I personally have never heard of it... They are herbivores with fangs... so cool!

This is really cool, I love the red panda one too. Muntjac arn't my favourite deer, I prefer Fallows and Reds. Sikas are quite cool. Im getting a fallow deer skin at xmas when my boyfriends dad shoots one ^^

I love Muntjac deers :D There was one at a spanish zoo I went to and she let us stroke her nose :XD: :love: so cute. The way he's sitting is adorable, you've captured him perfectly :+favlove:
