This is a Labradorite carefully hand wrapped in Argentium sterling silver. I thought this stone had a curious shape to it!
Labradorite is an amazing stone that can appear dark at first, until you move it and the stone comes alive with colors flashing within. The effect is similar in appearance to opal fire. It is called chatoyancy, which is a fancy way of saying that the color 'flashes' or 'rolls' across the stone, like cat's-eye but far more vibrantly. It is a natural stone, and the effect is caused by refractive layers within the stone. It cannot be simulated or dyed to look that way!
I hand wrap these pieces with nothing more than my fingers and a tiny pair of pliers. I purchase the stones already polished from rock and gem shows.
Thanks for looking.
[[ Since many ask-- yes, I do sell these on my personal site: [link] ]]
Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm trying to figure out if I actually "like it", or if I like it because it's unique. The pattern reminds me of a metallic alligator skin, and it's such an interesting shape. I think it's a matter of taste for me.

Your metal work is gorgious as always.
