Sunrise Ritual by Nambroth Sunrise Ritual by Nambroth
Every day she roused, as the first hints of dawn caressed the sky, fingers of pale bluee creeping across the heavens. She took the specially crafted green glass vessel and hooked it up to a series of carrying cables, the small crystals that adorned it twinkling in the blossoming morning light. Clipping some of the cables to her hindlegs, and taking up a carrying bar in her fore, she watched the sunrise... waiting for the moment just before the sun crested the Earth's sphere.
With a cry, she launched herself into the air, powerful wingbeats carrying her out over the ocean's surf. Her cry alerted the gulls, and they followed her in her ritual as they always did, staying respectfully silent. She glided across the water's surface, dipping the chalice into the ocean and filling it with water. Wings cupping the air, she rose once again, just as the sun peeked over the horizion, and lit up her daily tribute and blessing to the ocean.

I love this! It reminds me of the book Magician by Raymond E. Feist, but I don't know why because it never featured gryphons P:

I really like it. Griffon's wings the most. It's rare to find good drawn griffon.
But one thing looks funny to me. It's a bird tail. To have it functional griffon should have two ends of vertebra =)
Fan-tail isn't nesessary for the flight. Ramphorinh and stork are examples
