Artist's Comments

Another watercolor study- this time of a Mute Swan.

This one looked pretty wretched till I added the green background wash. Now it's okay I suppose... I still have a lot of work to do to improve, that's for sure.

Not meant to be a 'serious' painting.

Watercolors on 6" x 12" cold press.

Butterflies.
Butterflies taste with their feet.
... The world is just awesome.

Beautiful! I think you should draw for one of those bird spotting books! Next you should draw a puffin!

You are improving with every new bird. It never ceases to amaze me. Wonderful work!

I like it. The bird looks like it could be wet - giving the feathers that bit of "fur" texture. I really like the green background too. Hard to visualize without it, but it ties the painting together very nicely.

All of these delightful watercolours remind me to ask you if you've ever seen any of the books by Charles Tunnicliffe? He was an excellent illustrator of wildlife - bird in particular.

Also nice to see a slightly raggedy swan, too CX

I'd say something frightfully witty!
