An "artistic liberty/free reign" commission for Squeakstorm!

She suggested her favorite bird/cat combos and green, and off I went!

This gryphon is based on a Loggerhead Shrike, and the title is a play on the bird's common name (for the bird nerds amongst us!).

Green and green and green. For whatever reason this one didn't scan so well and the colors are a bit 'off'. It is more vibrant in person and has some subtle interference colors.

10" x 15", ink and watercolor on rough.

you just keep on getting better and there's nothing anyone can do <3 But tell me, I've been trying background watercolor splashes for a while, and when I do the character on top of it the watercolor below shines through unless I make a really fat layer. How do you keep the colors on the foreground so delicate?

If I am understanding you correctly: I simply don't paint any of the background colors where I want the character to be. :)
