Tiny Crystal Caverns Moonstone by Nambroth Tiny Crystal Caverns Moonstone by Nambroth
This is a tiny round moonstone carefully hand wrapped in Argentium sterling silver.

Moonstone is an amazing stone, when you move it the stone comes alive with colors flashing within. The effect is similar in appearance to opal fire. It is called chatoyancy, which is a fancy way of saying that the color 'flashes' or 'rolls' across the stone, like cat's-eye but far more vibrantly. It is a natural stone, and the effect is caused by refractive layers within the stone. It cannot be simulated or dyed to look that way!

I hand wrap these pieces with nothing more than my fingers and a tiny pair of pliers. I purchase the stones already polished from rock and gem shows.

Thanks for looking. :)

[[ Since many ask-- yes, I do sell these on my personal site: [link] ]]

you have a real gift for making jewelery. How do you get the swirls so smooth and uniform without little dents from the pliers? Does the sterling wire hold it's shape well, or do you have to be careful not to bang the pendants around while wearing them? Again, great work =)

I use my fingers for most of the bending. :) These pendants aren't fragile, but they shouldn't be abused either. Normal wear shouldn't hurt them but I wouldn't recommend anything that puts prolonged pressure on them, such as sleeping with a pendant on (you can smoosh and disfigure it) or worrying it against the necklace, etc.

Moonstones are some of my favorite stones. Seeing this really makes me want one of your necklaces even though I don't have any money.

Keep up the wonderful work! You have an amazing talent.

Rock and Gem shows mostly. :) Since I like to work with chatoyant stones, I find that I need to see them in person before I can select them.

As I said, I buy them from Rock and Gem shows. I don't buy them from stores. :) When you go to Rock and Gem shows, most of the things you see are for sale.

You can look up listings for them, try googling 'rock and gem shows'. They are temporary and move around.
