I like that you dont have to worry about it staying flat and can really saturate places that need a dreamy quality. The paper is only thirsty because you didnt saturate it. IF you make a mistake you can go over it in acrylic. I did a huge Jack Kerouac illustration and I needed the hood of a 53 Merc white and I did that in the acrylic.
As with anything it takes practice.
Have you checked out Piu-min? She only paints on strathmore illustration board.
So it all depends on the look you want.
Every paper has it's own look. Canson stays transparent while big brother arches gets deeper.
