Cockatiel Cheeks

This is a quick, fun painting of my cockatiel, Zephyr. She's not 'fat'-- her feathers are all fluffed up and she was hunkered down, daydreaming on the arm of my chair.

Zephyr is make of cheeks, forever. This is her happy face and it is worn almost always.

This didn't scan real well because of the impasto. The colors are not quite so harsh in person. The dark 'blacks' are actually rich purples.

Acrylic on 5" x 7" masonite board.
