This is in scraps because I am not sure if I'm happy with it or not... Plus, it's pretty weird, huh?
This was an illustration for a rather bizarre and very tongue-in-cheek Sci-Fi short story for Baen's Universe e-zine.
Essentially what you are seeing here, is that humans 'uplifted' chimps and dolphins to human level of sentience and intelligence, and this pair has to make a voyage through the petrol sea of Titan. To survive, the chimp is in what the story describes as a 'mechanical whale mini-sub' and the dolphin is in some type of flexible suit.
There are paraffin wax formations in the petrol sea.

Uplifted chimps and dolphins? sounds like Orion's Arm to me. though I guess those tropes go back ages
